HOW IT STARTED

My journey as a partnership strategist started twenty years ago working as the director of community relations and marketing in the brewing industry. I handled media relations, community partnerships, charitable giving and sponsorships. That’s right. I was the person who decided which events and organizations were funded.

And while I loved being a beer gal, I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I stepped out on faith and created Living Roots magazine -  a South Carolina publication that celebrated the culture, history and lifestyle of the African-American community.  As a small media company, I did it all including advertising and partnerships. Are you seeing a connection?

Later, I founded Sister Summit to empower women through personal and professional development. We held women's expos in four cities. Sister Summit grew and needed more funding. Using my past experiences, I acquired sponsorships from Blue Cross Blue Shield, McDonald's, State Farm, and several other companies.

It didn't take long for people to start asking for the formula for my success. They wanted help getting the money to fund their dreams. My years of approving sponsorships, working with partners, and securing deals formed the foundation for Win Sponsors.

WIN SPONSORS

It took a few years of convincing for me to begin teaching Win Sponsors. Even I had imposter syndrome wondering if I could be effective, but I couldn't deny that I was really good at connecting brands, funding events, and acquiring sponsorships. I have secured over two million dollars for my clients and myself.

Today, I teach value packed courses on how to secure event sponsors, fund nonprofits, and cultivate brand partnerships for influencers and businesses. I pride myself on breaking down the process so it's easily understood and replicated.

Getting corporate sponsors and brand partners isn't rocket science, but there is a science to being successful. I teach my clients how to leverage their assets and create win-win solutions.

HONORS, AWARDS, MEMBERSHIPS

Under President Obama, I was selected to participate in the White House’s United State of Women where we discussed local and global issues facing women around the globe. Some of my other honors include Entrepreneur of the Year, the Rising Star Award and One to Watch in Business. I served on the board of directors and held membership in the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, TedX, YWCA, Jack and Jill, and Junior League. I’m also a proud Howard University Bison. (You Know!) Most importantly, I have the honor of being the mom to the most compassionate young man who is a successful entrepreneur at the age of 15. Check out his business, Culture Kids, at www.myculturekids.com. (Shameless mom plug.)
